Description

CONSTRUCTION OF REUSABLE COVER AND RECIPIENT SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A reusable cover or container and lid, including a cover having a lid tray and a peripheral flange, the lid tray having an upper face and a lower face, and side walls that are substantially perpendicular to the face upper and lower face of the lid tray, the side walls having an external surface and an internal surface, the peripheral flange having external and internal walls, the inner surface of the side walls of the lid tray being complementary to, and adapting to fit around the outer walls of the peripheral flange, to form a first interconnection adjustment, the lid tray and the peripheral eyebrow being connected by a hinge, such that the angle between the lid tray and the peripheral flange is can be altered, and the first interconnection setting can be made or decoupled, as desired, by defining a reci A cavity has a cavity, the container having lower and outer walls, and an edge defining an opening towards the cavity, the peripheral flange being complementary to, and adapting to fit around, the external walls of the container, and abutting against the edge of the container. container to form a second interconnection adjustment, the second interconnection adjustment being made when the peripheral flange slides along the outer walls of the container, until it abuts the edge of the container. * * * * * The present invention relates to a container with a lid or cover of the reusable container, having a substantially air-tight seal, and wherein the cover can be reused with a new container body, when the body of the previous container arrives at empty. There are a number of different cover and container combinations described in the prior art. Typically, a cover is attached to the edge of a container; see, for example, U.S. Patent Number 5,145,088. As noted in U.S. Patent No. 5,145,088 a cover may consist of a central plate and a peripheral flange defining a U-shaped cross section, having two arms, i.e., an outer and inner arm, each of which is joined by a segment. In turn, the inner arm is attached to the central plate, and consequently, the periphery of the cover fits over a coupling edge of a container. As further pointed out in U.S. Patent No. 5,145,088, although this combination is widely used, this design has a drawback that the cover is sometimes difficult to remove from, or reattached to, a container. . U.S. Patent No. 5,145,088, further discloses an improved cover that fits over the engaging edge of a container or fret, which has the additional features of a segment that joins the inner and outer arms of the shaped cross section. of U, of the peripheral flange, wherein, the joining segment includes a groove that extends around substantially all the periphery of the eyebrow, thereby defining two mutually opposite lips. Associated with the slot, there is a plurality of narrow tab portions connecting the two lips. U.S. Patent 5,145,088 also discloses a cover that includes a fastening tab that is integral with the lip connected to the inner arm of the U-shaped cross section, and therefore, connects to the center plate. On the side opposite the lip having the retaining tab, there are hinge segments connecting the two lips. Although this structure is intended to overcome the difficulties associated with the prior art, the structure described in U.S. Patent No. 5,145,088, constitutes a cover that "snaps" on the coupling edge of a container, known as "top loading". . Accordingly, the construction described has certain drawbacks associated with the removal of the cover from, and the meeting of the cover with, a container.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention seeks to overcome the drawbacks described in the prior art. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the reusable lid or container and container are made of suitable materials, for example, flexible plastic. The cover includes a lid tray and a peripheral flange hinged with the tray along one edge of the tray. The lid tray has an upper face and a lower face, and a circumferential side wall that is substantially perpendicular to the upper face and lower face of the lid tray. The side wall has an external surface and an internal surface. The inner surface of the side wall of the lid tray is complementary to, and adapted to fit loosely around, the outer wall of the peripheral flange. This adjustment can be a friction adjustment or an instantaneous adjustment, or a combination thereof. The lid tray and the peripheral flange are connected by a live, integrally molded hinge. In this way, the lid tray can be pivoted about the peripheral flange between an open position and a closed position, which is between a decoupling position of the circumferential side wall and the flange, and a mating position thereof. With this preferred embodiment, the container defines a cavity having a lower and outer wall, and a circumferential edge for the cavity. Also in this preferred embodiment, the edge extends from, and is substantially perpendicular to, the outer walls that form the body of the container. The edge can alternatively be laminated or corrugated. In addition, in this preferred embodiment, there is at least one ear positioned on the outer wall of the container, near the top of the wall. The peripheral flange of the cover is complementary to the external wall of the body of the container, and abuts against the edge of the container, to define a shape adjustment. The peripheral flange and the container are dimensioned and configured in such a way that the flange can slide on the bottom of the container, to slide upwards and along the external walls of the container, until it fits against the edge of the container, which is stopped by the same by ears or tabs molded on the external wall of the container. In this way, the flange can be adjusted to friction or can be instantly adjusted on the container. This "bottom loading" configuration of the peripheral flange and the fit between that flange and the lid tray, as well as the fit between that flange and the container body, allows easy connection and removal of the container cover, and covers the opening defined by the edge of the body of the container. This construction provides a generally air-tight seal to better preserve the contents inside the container.
When the cover is removed, all that has to be done is to push the peripheral flange downwards, along the outer walls of the container, thereby decoupling the fit between the flange and the container. Accordingly, the present invention eliminates the need associated with the "top-loading" structures of the prior art, to align and compress the peripheral flange at the engaging edge of the container, only to be subsequently forced to hold the flange and pull it from the container. . In the present invention, the fit between the peripheral flange of the cover and the container, and the fit between the lid tray and the hinged peripheral flange, results in a substantially air-tight seal that separates the contents in the cavity of the container. outside air container. Therefore, the present invention is particularly useful for the containment of wet products, such as wet disposable baby towels, which require an air-proof storage. When the material retained in the container cavity is extracted or exhausted, the cover of the present invention can be easily removed from the empty container, and can be reused with a new full storage and dosing container body. For example, when the present invention is used for wet disposable towels, a plastic sheet attached by an adhesive to the edge of the container body to provide an air-tight seal for the contents in the container cavity, can be pulled from the edge . Then the peripheral flange can slide from the bottom of the container and upwards along the side walls of the container, until the inner walls of the flange abut the edge of the container. Then the lid tray can be closed tightly on the peripheral flange to complete the air-tight seal, and to cover the contents in the container cavity. The lid tray can be easily lifted from the flange when it is desired to remove a disposable towel, for example, by holding a tab on the lid tray, and lifting the tray up and away from the container body. This tongue can be on the upper face or outer surface of a side wall of the lid tray. The lid tray can easily be placed back on the flange to reseal the lid tray, and thus cover the contents in the container cavity. When it is desired to reuse the cover for a new container, for example, when the cavity of the previous container becomes empty, the peripheral flange is pushed down from the edge of the container, and disengaged from the container. Then the connection of the cover with a new container can be made. Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new package or receptacle comprised of a lid or cover and a container that is easy to use and manufacture. Another object of the present invention is to provide a receptacle having a substantially air-tight seal. Another object of the present invention is to provide a receptacle having a cover that can be reused, by removing the cover from a container that has become empty, and reconnecting the cover to another container that is not empty. The present invention is particularly useful for storing products that require an air-tight seal, for example, wet disposable baby towels. Other objects of the present invention are to provide environmental and cost benefits, by eliminating the need for a separate, heavier weight plastic container to house the replacement container, as used in the prior art, for example, in the constructions of prior art containers for storing and dispensing wet disposable baby towels. As another object and benefit of the present invention, the container bodies can be easily stored on top of each other, and can be easily separated, thereby providing storage and manufacturing advantages. These and other objects, advantages, and features of the present invention will be stipulated in the following detailed description.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITIES The following description focuses on one of the many possible applications for using the lid or cover and reusable container of the present invention; that is, to maintain and dose wet disposable baby towels. Many applications are possible, and the present invention is not limited to the applications described. Referring to the embodiment of Figures 1 to 4, a receptacle 1 includes a cover or lid 2, and a container or container body 15. The cover 2 is comprised of a lid tray 3 having a hinged peripheral flange connected to it. The lid tray 3 has an upper face 5, a lower face 6, and a peripheral or circumferential side wall 7. The side wall 7 is substantially perpendicular to the upper face 5 and to the lower face 6 of the lid tray 3. In addition, the side wall 7 has an outer surface 8 and an inner surface 9. The peripheral flange 4 has a dependent outer wall 10, and a spaced apart, generally parallel internal wall, 11, connected by an upper fabric 38. The inner surface 9 of the side wall 7 of the lid tray 3 is complementary to, and is adapted to fit around the outer wall 10 of the peripheral flange 4, to form an air-tight fit generally congruent Source and loose defined by the interconnection 12 of the flange 4 and the wall 10. The interconnection 12 can be a friction adjustment or an instantaneous adjustment, or a combination thereof. The lid tray 3 and the peripheral flange 4 are connected to each other by a hinge 14, and therefore, can pivot through an angle 13. The hinge 14 is flexible or live, such that the angle 13 between the lid tray 3 and the peripheral flange 4, can be altered, and the interconnection 12 You can do or undock as desired. The container 15 defines a product cavity 16. The container 15 also has a bottom 17 and outer walls 18, and a peripheral edge projecting outwards 19. The edge 19 in this manner defines an opening 20 towards the cavity 16. edge 19 extends from, and is substantially perpendicular to, the outer walls 18 of the container 15. At least one outer wall 18 has a projecting ear 21, which is positioned substantially on top of the outer wall 18 and adjacent to the outer wall 18. edge 19. The peripheral flange 4 is complementary to, and is adapted to fit around, the outer walls 18 retained by the projecting ear 21, and abuts against the edge 19 of the container 15, to define a second interconnection 22, within of the inner wall 11 of the peripheral flange 4 and the outer wall 18 of the container 15 adjacent the wall 18. The flange 4 fits over the container 5 when the lid tray 3 and the peripheral flange 4 open, such that the peripheral flange 4 can slide from below the bottom 17 of the container 15, upwards and along the outer walls 18 of the container 15, until the peripheral flange 4 fits around the ear 21, and stop against the edge 19 of the container 15. The interconnection 22 can be effected either by friction adjustment or instantaneous adjustment, or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the hinge 14 can then be closed, in such a way that the inner surface 9 of the lid tray 3 fits over the outer walls 10 of the peripheral flange 4, thereby covering the content 23 that can be contained within the cavity 16 of the container 15, and in this way, provides an air-tight seal 24, which serves to separate the contents 23 from the elements, such as air, that are outside the receptacle 1. When it is desired to remove something or all the contents 23 from the cavity 16 of the container 15, the tongue of the cover 25, projecting from the lid tray 3 opposite the hinge 14, can be held and pulled upwards, thereby lifting the lid tray 3 , coming out and away from the peripheral flange 4 and the opening 20 of the container 15. The lid tray 3 can also have a lock 26 which fits into a notch 27 of the peripheral flange 4. The lock 26 can be coupled with, or you can d coupling of, notch 27 as desired. In addition, the container 15 can be configured in such a way that the outer walls 18 are thinned towards the bottom 17. In this embodiment, the peripheral flange 4 can slide more easily below the bottom 17 and upwards along the walls 18, until it fits against the edge 19. Figures 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, show an alternative construction for retaining the peripheral flange 4 on the container 15, each way involving the sliding of the flange peripheral 4 below the bottom 17, and then along the outer walls 18 of the container 15, to couple the container 15 on the edge 19. Figure 5 illustrates the use of an ear 21 at the corner 28 of the container 15, for coact with the flange 4 of the cover 3. The ear 21 includes a button 29 at an end 30 that is spaced from the edge 19. One or more corners 28 of the container 15 can have this button 29 as desired. The inner wall 11 coactuates with the button 29, and in this way is retained on the container 15. Figure 6 illustrates an ear 31 molded on the outer surface of the wall 18 of the container 15, but not in a corner 28 of the container 15. The ear 31 includes a button 32 at one end 33, which is spaced from the edge 19, in a manner that facilitates the retention of the peripheral flange 4 against the edge 19. Multiple ears 31 of this configuration can be molded in a desired pattern on the wall 18. Figures 7 and 8 show a similarly shaped triangular projection 34, which it is spaced from the edge 19 by a dimension 35 substantially equal to the height of the wall 11. The projection is molded in the wall 18 as illustrated in Figure 8a. In this embodiment, the projection 34 is positioned on the container 15, in such a way that it forms a projection 36 which stops the peripheral flange 4 against the edge 19 as desired. Figure 9 illustrates another embodiment wherein the peripheral flange 4 includes a protrusion 37 from the upper part of the fabric 38, which corresponds to, and is adapted to fit instantaneously in the congruent openings 39 molded in the bottom 40 of the edge 19. The connection of instantaneous adjustment between the protrusion 37 and the opening 39, keeps the fabric of the peripheral flange 38 against the edge 19. Figures 10 and 10a, illustrate another embodiment wherein the peripheral flange 4, and more particularly the fabric 38, includes a hook or molded lip 41, which is adapted to fit instantaneously on the edge 19, and to stop the peripheral flange 4 against the edge 19. Figures 11 and ll illustrate another embodiment wherein the peripheral flange 4 can be loaded by "sliding "above the edge 19 of the container 15. In this alternative embodiment, a second fabric 42 is provided parallel to, and spaced from, the fabric 38, on three sides of the and the flange 4. The fabrics 42 and 38 are spaced such that the edge 19 slides between them, and the inner wall 11 is removed. The peripheral flange 4 also has a flexible lip 43 on a remaining side 44. lip 63 corresponds to, and adapts to snap around around, the end 45 of edge 19, to stop peripheral flange 4 against edge 19, after which flange 4 slides over edge 19.
Figures 12 to 12b illustrate a modality in which the outer wall 10 of the peripheral flange 4 slides from the upper part down over the edge 19. The wall 10 of the peripheral flange 4 has an inward protrusion 46, corresponding to , and is adapted to fit in, the slot 47 of the edge 19, to stop the peripheral flange 4 against the edge 19. The lid tray 3 has a recess 46 'which is designed to fit around the top face 4' of the peripheral flange 4, for increasing the air test seal between the peripheral flange 4, and the lid tray 3. The peripheral flange 4, defines an opening 47 ', having a substantially parallelogram shape, from which the contents 23 of the container 15 can be removed. The opening 47 'is particularly useful when the contents 23 are interleaved disposable towels to be removed from the container 15. Figures 13 and 14 illustrate embodiments wherein the peripheral flange 4 is cut, in such a way that the flange 4 can be loaded by upper sliding, just as it can be loaded in the bottom on the container 15. In these alternative embodiments, the peripheral flange is substantially U-shaped, and defines a opening 48. In Figure 13, opening 48 is at one end adjacent hinge 14. In Figure 14, opening 48 is opposite hinge 14.
Figures 15 to 15d illustrate an alternative lid tray 49, having a tongue 50. The tongue 50 can be clamped to open or close the lid tray 49 on the container 15. The lid tray 49 also has a first section 51 connected by an integrally molded hinge 52, in the second section 53. The first section 51 can pivot to an open position to access the contents 23 inside the container 15, or alternatively, to a closed position. The second section 53 has fasteners 54 which correspond to, and adapt to snap-fit on, the edge 19 of the container 15. The instantaneous adjustment connection between the fasteners 54 and the edge 19, stops the second section 53 in the container 15 The first section 51 has fasteners 55 that fit over the edge 19 of the container 15. The fastening between the fasteners 54 and the edge 19 is stronger than the fastener between the fasteners 55 and the edge 19, so that the first section 51 can be easily lifted from the edge 19, and in such a way that the second section 53 remains "fitted" to the edge 19, as desired. The above detailed description of the present invention has been made in general terms and with respect to several preferred embodiments. Many of the preferred apparatuses and methods stated herein may be varied by persons skilled in the art, without departing
