This shopping toy cart comprises a main frame, with a plurality of wheels and a plurality of transverse members, one of these transverse members includes a channel that retains, in removable form, a basket and a seat in position, in portions front and back of said frame.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The object and features of the present invention, believed to be novel, are pointed out with particularity in the appended claims. The present invention, both in its organization and in the manner of operation, together with other objects and advantages can be better understood with reference to the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a toy shopping cart, according to the present invention, showing a removable basket, seat and telephone, in assembled positions, in solid lines and in positions removed in interrupted lines; Figure 2 is an enlarged, partial top plan view of the toy shopping cart of Figure 1, partly with cutouts showing the basket and seat mounted to a channel formed on a transverse member, secured to a frame of the shopping cart; and Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view, taken along line 3-3 of Figure 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITIES The following description is provided to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the invention and indicates the best modes considered by the inventors in carrying out the invention. However, several modifications will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, since the generic principles of the present invention have been specifically defined herein to provide an improved and simplified toy shopping cart, generally indicated by 10. The Toy 10 for purchases has a frame 12, comprised of a pair of leg assemblies, 14, 16, which form the sides of the shopping cart, and which have wheels 18, preferably four (4) mounted at their lower ends (2 a a side set). The leg assemblies, 14, 16, are preferably held together in an open configuration by a plurality of transverse beams or transverse members 20, 22, 24, 26, secured at the ends opposite the inner surfaces of the leg assemblies. The transverse member 26 may include an axis for connecting the rear wheels 18. Each of the leg assemblies, 14, 16, includes a first face or front surface 28, 30, and a second face or rear surface 32, 34. upper portions 36, 38 of the leg assemblies 14, 16 form bridges or are connected together by a handle 40, this handle can be removable or fixed.
A basket 42 and a seat 44 are retained, removably, or hung on the frame 12, between the front faces 28, 30 'and the rear faces, 32, 34. The basket 42 and the seat 4 can take any shape or shape. desired configuration and can be secured, removably, to the frame 12 in any desired manner. In a currently preferred embodiment of the invention, the basket 42 is comprised of an open upper body housing or cover 46, having an upper circumferential lip 48, a base or bottom 49 and a handle 50. This handle 50 is preferably mounted in rotary shape to body, housing or cover 46 and can be moved in the direction of arrow 51. Lip 48 provides added strength around the open top of the body, housing or cover 46 and further allows the basket 42 to be hung or secured, removably, within or on a channel 60, formed or secured on an upper surface of the transverse member 24. A plurality of simulated food products or similar products (not shown) may be placed in the basket 42 during play or purchase simulated by a child. To further support the basket 42 in the frame 12, this basket has a size and dimension and the transverse member 22 is positioned spaced from the frame, so that the base 49 of the basket rests on an upper surface of the transverse member 22. seat 44 preferably comprises a chair portion 52, with leg portions 54 and a tray 56. A retaining portion 58, which has a substantially inverted L-shape with an open bottom and closed ends, is formed on or secured to the rear surface of the chair portion 52, for hanging or retaining, removably, the seat 44 on the channel 60, formed or secured on an upper surface of the transverse member 224. A grimace (not shown) can be placed on and supported inside the seat portion 52, preferably facing the tray 56. As best shown in Figures 2 and 3, although the channel 60 can be formed in any desired way to hang or hold The basket 42 and the seat 44 to the frame 12 are preferably comprised of a first face or front portion 62 and a second face or rear portion 64. The front face 62 is shown as being longer than the back face 64, to receive better and hang or support the basket 42 in the frame. The lip 48 and retention portion 58 are, respectively, placed under pressure on p otherwise slid or secured in these front and rear portions 62, 64, for securely hanging or retaining the basket 52 and the seat 44 on the frame 12. Each front and rear portion, 62, 64, may include a plurality of dividers or reinforcing members, 66, 69, which cooperate with the end walls of the lip 48 and the retainer portion 58 and to frictionally couple the same. In addition, the back surface of the chair portion 52 may also include a plurality of dividers or reinforcing members 70, within the retaining portion 58, which cooperate with a rear surface of the back face or portion 64 to assist the portion 58 retention in frictional engagement to the face or back portion. If desired, each of the dividers 66, 69 and 70 can be angled, so as to have a wider lower portion, to enable the basket 42 and the seat 4 to be coupled with greater security, when inserted or pushed on the anal 60, but to be easily removed from the canal, when a sufficient force is exerted upwards by a child playing with the shopping cart 10. Although shown as being substantially straight, it will be understood that either or both of the front or rear portions 62, 64 of the channel 60 may have a slight bend or curvature to conform to any bending or bending of the lip 48 and / or the retaining portion 58 .
For the added value of the game, the handle 40 may include a sheath 72 fixed to or removably secured to the handle 40, to retain, removably, a simulated telephone 74, such as a cellular phone. When the basket 42, the seat 44 and the phone 74 are removed from shopping cart 10, they can be used by a child in a desired way. For example, the basket 42 can be used to pick up or purchase items, while the seat 44 can be placed on a flat surface and supported by the leg portions 54. A doll (not shown) can be placed in the chair portion 62, sitting in front of the tray 56. The food products will then be placed on the tray 56 and a child can feed the doll. This tray 56 can be mounted so that it can move in and out and be able to be turned over. The turning side of the tray can be provided with a colored individual tablecloth and napkin graphics, as well as recessed areas with food items, such as attached utensils, a bowl, a cup or the like. The toy car 10 can be made in any desired way in any desired size, of any material, but is preferably made of one or more hygienic plastics and that can be cleaned, and used by a child while playing with dolls and similar foods and other products. For example, the frame 12, the basket 42 and the seat 44 can be molded or otherwise formed into one or more sites having a desired color or finish. It has thus been described a novel and unique toy shopping cart, containing easily removable elements, to increase the value of the child's game, with or without dolls. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that various adaptations and modifications of the preferred embodiments, just described, can be configured without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. Therefore, it will be understood that, within the scope of the appended claims, the invention may be practiced in other ways than those specifically described herein.
