Abstract

Un motor diesel (E) tiene una camara de combustion (C), un piston (T) movible en la camara, valvulas de entrada de aire y escape (IV; EV), y una boquilla (N) inyectando combustible en la camara de combustion. Al controlar las caracteristicas de flujo hidraulico de una mezcla de aire-combustible, se reduce la materia particulada (PM) producida por combustion de la mezcla de aire-combustible en la camara, a un nivel que cumple los requerimientos Tier 2 establecidos por la Agencia de Proteccion Ambiental (EPA) para el motor. Esto se realiza ademas al incrementar la presion de inyeccion del combustible inyectado en la camara, cambiar el tamano y/o forma de la boquilla inyectora para incrementar una proporcion del aire a combustible mientras se inyecta combustible en la camara a traves de la boquilla, incrementar la proporcion de compresion dentro de la camara de combustion, disminuir la temperatura de aire del colector (MAT), y retardar el inicio de inyeccion (SOI) dentro de la camara. Ademas de reducir la materia particulada dentro de los limites Tier 2, Nox producido por el motor tambien se mantiene dentro de los requerimientos Tier 2, y se reduce el consumo de combustible del motor.
