Abstract

A secure electronic polling method for carrying out electronic surveys over a communication network. The method uses cryptographic processes specially designed to ensure the security of survey generation and processing. Specifically, the security requirements include respondent authentication, respondent privacy, result correction, a guarantee that respondents are not coerced and, where applicable, a guarantee that the intermediate results remain secret until the survey is complete. The invention makes its possible to minimise the extent to which any of the parties and individual respondents to the electronic survey need to be trusted.
