Abstract

Un adaptador que se puede utilizar con equipo de fluido giratorio que protegera los sellos mecanicos y/o el material de empaque adyacente a la cavidad (18) de sello del equipo. El adaptador incluye un cuerpo (30) anular con un orificio (32) central adaptado para recibir una flecha (12) del equipo. Cuando se utiliza con sellos mecanicos, el adaptador se puede recibir en la cavidad en la entrada de la misma y tiene una porcion cuya superficie que efectua el contacto con una superficie complementaria del sello. Cuando se utiliza con empaque, el adaptador ajusta dentro de la cavidad y define una extension exterior en donde se puede recibir el empaque. El orificio define dos porciones, una esta cerca de la flecha (52) y la otra porcion (54) se acampana hacia afuera desde la porcion hacia el extremo exterior del adaptador. Cada porcion de orificio tiene una ranura (56, 58) espiral, la ranura sirve para re-dirigir el material contaminante contenido en fluidos que rosean la flecha lejos de la cavidad de sello.
