Description

HAIR ORNAMENT WITH A RESILIENT COUPLING PIN FIELD OF THE 1NVECION The invention relates to an ornament for the hair and particularly to a device having an aesthetic appearance, that is to say a very ornamental appearance and comprising novel means combined therewith for coupling it to the wearer's hair. An important objective of the invention is to provide such a device in which the means for coupling the device to the hair is in the form of a pin positioned by a hinge and spring means, which remain completely hidden from view when the ornament is worn in the hair, and that can be firmly fixed in the hair.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS TECHNIQUE OF THE PRESENT INVENTION Devices intended to be used as an ornament and comprising a resilient coupling pin have been widely used. These comprise a spring means for securing two parts or ends connected by a hinge, to secure the device to the wearer's hair.
Said hinge, and sometimes the spring, are externally visible, and sometimes the hair becomes entangled in the mechanism of the hinge. Obviously, the visibility of the hinge and the spring and, of course, the possibility of entanglement with the hair, are undesirable characteristics, which are intended to avoid the device of the invention. Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent in the course of the following description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is an exploded view of the main parts of the device according to the invention; Figure 2 is a perspective side view of the device in the closed position; Figure 3 is another perspective view of the front part of the device in the open position; Figure 4 is a view corresponding to Figure 2 but in an open position; In the drawings the same numbers are used for the identical parts for all the figures.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED MODALITY OF THE INVENTION Referring to the drawings, the numeral 10 designates the body of the device appearing in the present example, comprising a pair of transversely elongated complementary ends 12 and 1, which are connected by a hinge and by a spring means 16 and having suitably shaped pegs 18 extending from each of the elongated ends 12 and 14. The pegs 18 form a pair of clamping portions or jaws that allow, when in the closed position, to hold the device in the user's hair . Each elongate tip 12 and 14 comprises a socket 20 and 22 (represented with a substantially cylindrical shape) having a hollow cylindrical cavity, which is preferably closed at the outer end thereof and which forms, at the inner end opposite to the outer end, connecting sliding planes 23 and 25 which, as can be seen, are inclined at an angle of approximately 45 ° with respect to the common axis XX 'of the elongated bushes 20 and 22, or which can be directly adjusted one with the other, corresponding to the position perpendicular to the axis XX. The socket 20, as shown for a limb 12, extends over one half of the length of said extremity, and the socket 22 for the second end 14 also extends over one half of the length of the corresponding limb.
A sleeve 24 can be received in the cavity of the bushes 20 and 22, and the spring 26 in turn is located in the sleeve 24. The ends 12 and 14 are thus pivoted to each other by means of said sleeve 24. In addition, the spring 26 which is located in the sleeve 24 extends within the bushings 20 and 22, and is engaged at both ends by suitable means, such as pins or bolts 34 at the outer end of the bushings 20 and 22, with in order to deflect the ends 12 and 14 to the closed position. The spring 26, as shown at both ends, comprises hook parts that allow assembly of the device in the closed position with the pins 34 securing the spring in a permanent traction that deflects the pin on the hair. When the handles 30, 32 are pressed, the rotation of the limbs 12 and 14 twists the spring. When these handles are no longer being pressed, the limbs are returned to the closed (grip) position. The handle portions 30 and 32 in the form of handles allow the device to be opened starting from a joint position (as shown in FIG. 2) to an open position (as in FIGS. 3 and 4). Although in Figure 1 the sleeve is represented as a designated part, said sleeve could be integral to, for example, the bushing 20, that is, it could form part of the bushing but having a smaller outer diameter, so as to allow it to be received in bushing 22.
In Figure 2, the contraction of the pins 18 of each end 12 and 14 causes the joint position. However, the spikes 18 could be biased away from the first end 12 compared to the spikes 18, for the second end 14, and then the joining portions can be provided in suitable positions at the ends, suitable in the closed position. The sliding planes 23, 25 will cause the ends 12 and 14, when the handles 30, 32 are being pressed by the fingers of the user against the deflection caused by the spring 26, move from the position of figure 2 towards the position of Figures 3 and 4. In the case where the limbs have sliding planes inclined at a particular angle other than 90 ° to the axis XX, it also "stretches" the extremity 12 of the device from the end 4, thus extending to the spring 26. soon as the pressing action is released, under the action of the spring 26, a sliding of the two planes 23, 25 of the bushes 20 and 22, will cause the device to revert to its initial closed position. As can be seen from the outside (from behind) of the device, the two sliding planes appear as a line, thus forming a hidden hinge in all device positions (open or closed). In addition, the spring 26 also remains hidden from view, whether it is outside or inside, only the sleeve 24 can be seen from the inside in the case of the inclined planes 23 and 24.

Claims (1)

  1. The number of pins and their position, as well as their shape, can obviously be adapted to the specific intended use, and are not necessarily as depicted in the drawings. The device of the invention can be made with any material, such as metal or plastic, or a combination of both. The finger grip portion (i.e., the handles 30, 32) can also have various dimensions and sizes, as long as they can be used properly as handles. It should be noted that the spring 26 can also be fixed with the pins 34, in the closed position of the device, not only when it is deflected under the traction, but also when it is twisted in such a way that the opening movement under the pressure in the handles 30 and 32, will make it twist even more. In which case the planes 23 and 25 may have a different inclination than the one shown, and may even be perpendicular to said axis X-X '. It should be understood that the form of the invention shown and described should be taken as a preferred example thereof, and that various changes may be made in the shape, size and arrangement of the parts, without departing from the scope of the claims.
