Abstract
Se dan a conocer métodos y sistemas para proporcionar una red virtual. Se crea cuando menos una capa de abstracción entre las aplicaciones de servicio de la red y los protocolos de red convencionales, mediante la inserción de un despachador adaptable entre las aplicaciones y los servicios de transporte de red en cada máquina de una red. El protocolo de mensajes en la red virtual es extensible, permitiendo que los programas de aplicación creen nuevos encabezados dentro de cualquier mensaje como sean necesarios. El despachador adaptable contiene manejadores que rutean y despachan los mensajes dentro de la red virtual, basándose en un contenido arbitrario dentro de cada mensaje, incluyendo cualquier combinación de contenido de encabezados y/o datos. Cada dispositivo de la red virtual tiene una dirección virtual hacia la que se dirigen los mensajes, permitiendo que los dispositivos se muevan dentro de la red sin reconfigurar las tablas de ruteo. Los manejadores se pueden crear automáticamente cuando se presente un evento que satisfaga criterios previamente definidos, incluyendo la falta de presentación de una condición, haciendo que la red virtual sea auto-sanadora y adaptable a la reconfiguración.
