Abstract
This invention refers to a nucleating product for refining copper in grain and its alloys, which acts in the metal microstructure providing growing nucleus of grains when the metal solidification occurs, forming small and homogeneous grains in all the structure, eliminating microporosity provoked by the micro-suck-effect, which is presented when passing the metal from the liquid state to the solid one, and also eliminating crevices and porosities throughout the metal structure.
Description
"NUCLEAR FOR REFINING GRAIN IN COPPER AND ITS ALLOYS" BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION At present, copper and its alloys can present micro-porosities, cracks and defects caused by the exaggerated growth of grain produced by melting said metals, creating a rejection in the production. With this nucleant a reduction of the grain size is manifested and the physical properties of 0 said alloys are improved. In order to eliminate these and other drawbacks, the development of the present nucleant for refining copper grain and its alloys was intended, which is intended to be protected by means of the present application, since it is a product composed of non-harmful chemical elements. for the environment or for the human being.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION "NUCLEAR FOR REFINING GRAIN IN COPPER AND ITS ALLOYS"
The characteristic details of this novel nucleant for refining copper grain and its alloys are clearly shown in the following description and in the accompanying drawings, as well as an illustration thereof and following the same reference signs to indicate the parts and figures shown. The technical field to which the invention relates is the metalworking and foundry industry. Figure 1 is a micrograph showing the grain of a copper ingot with refined grain with the nucleant to refine grain in copper and its alloys which shows a semi-round and small grain without cracks (No.1). 15 Figure 2 shows a copper ingot with a crack (No1) caused by large grain, which has not been refined with the refining nucleant. Figure 3 is a photomicrograph of brass (60% Copper and 40% Zinc) unrefined and shows open grain in the form of needles and porosity (no. 1) with chemical attack of Ferric Chloride plus Hydrochloric Acid and view at 100 magnifications.

Figure 4 shows a photomicrograph of brass (60% Cu 40% Zn) which has a small grain and a semi-rounded shape without presenting defects that normally occur in the form of cracks in the brass without using the nucleant. Figure 5 is a photomicrograph of a bronze composed of Cu-Zn-Sn-Pb at 100 magnifications with chemical attack with Ferric Chloride plus hydrochloric acid. Presents porosity (No.1) by open grain. Figure 6 is of the same bronze as Figure 5 without chemical attack where the porosity is more clearly seen (No.1) Fig. 7 is a photomicrograph of a bronze with refined grain without pores or defects. Fig. 8 shows us a photomicrograph of unrefined Copper with very large grain size with chemical attack and at 100 magnifications. Fig. 9 is a photomicrograph of a copper specimen with refined and small grain. The compound of said pucleant consists of adding a mixture of Boron and Titanium compounds in their salts, oxides and Boron and Titanium Acids modalities. Nuclear Refiner s Titanium Compounds from 1 to 24% Boron Compounds from 76 to 99% The measures and actions that must be taken to execute the invention are adding at the beginning of the fusion of copper and its alloys 1 kg. Nucleante to refine for each ton of metal. The process that is carried out to use this nucleant is as follows: it is added when loading the furnace with scrap, ingots, etc. And the melting is carried out until the full charge of the molten metal is obtained, the metal is emptied, in the case of copper and brass bronze to aluminum in continuous casting, permanent molds and sand, in the case of brass, bronzes in general that are empty in sand molds. This product is the result of different tests carried out to eliminate microporosities, cracks and defects caused by the exaggerated growth of grain in copper and its alloys (described in the claim)
