Description

MANUAL ARRANGEMENT FOR FOLDING CARTON BOX This invention relates to a folding cardboard box having a handle. According to the present invention there is provided a foldable cardboard box having a base, the first and second side panels hingedly connected or articulated to the opposite lateral edges of the base, the first and second upper panels hingedly connected or articulated to the first and second side panels, respectively, the first and second side panels having on each of their longitudinal edges the end panels connected to them in a collapsible manner, a part of the first top panel defining by means of cuts a ribbon handle extending lengthwise, which extends at both ends in the end panels hingedly connected to the first top panel, the second top panel below the first top panel and having a partial portion of the ribbon handle at each end encompassing the joint between the end panels and the second top panel, the second top panel and its end panels The underlying members of the first upper panel and its associated end panels are adhered thereto so that the tape handle is adhered to the two partial portions of the tape handle without adhesion to this portions of the second top panel between the partial portions of the tape. the tape handle and below the tape handle of the first top panel, by this means, during use, the adhered end panels are folded down and secured with respect to the other end closure flaps connected in a collapsible manner to the side panels or the base. Preferably, the belt handle has a laterally connected side flap cut from the first top panel at each side end of the belt handle, whose side flaps, during use, are folded under the belt handle. Normally the side flaps adhere to the underside of the tape handle and preferably do not overlap each other. With the preferred embodiments, the ribbon handle has parallel sides along the length of the first top panel and extends substantially to the center along the same. A preferred feature is that the cuts defining the portions of the tape handle on the end panels hingedly connected to the first top panel widen laterally outwardly from the joint between the first top panel and its associated end panels, the corresponding cuts defining the partial portions of the tape handle also widening to be aligned with the cuts of the tape handle in the first top panel. For convenience, the weakening lines extend from at least one of the cuts defining the tape handle or the lateral fins with corresponding lines of weakening in those parts of the second upper panel below the first weakening lines. Preferably, these lines of weakness on each side of the belt loop extend away from each other in the longitudinal direction of the first top panel and toward the adjacent side panel where they meet. In some arrangements, the weakening lines are in a straight line section that is substantially parallel to the articulation between the side panel and the first top panel. In certain preferred embodiments, the edges of the lateral ends of the portions of the partial portions of the tape handle are separated from the remainder of the second upper panel to prevent adhesion of the tape handle to the remainder of the second upper panel. With some arrangements, the folding cardboard box is completely closed and the folding cardboard box is adapted to carry a plurality of items in an odd number of rows extending along with the tape handle extending over the items in the middle row.
In theory, frangible sources retain the ribbon handle level with respect to the first top panel until the handle is used. Now the embodiments of the present invention will be described in more detail. The description refers to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a sheet for producing a folding cardboard box according to the present invention, Figure 2 shows the sheet of Figure 1 with the main areas for the application of adhesive, Figure 3 is a perspective view of the assembled folding carton, and Figure 4 is a side view of the carton with the handle elevated. In Figures 1 to 4 a sheet 10 is shown which, when constructed, forms a cardboard box 11 for a plurality of bottles. In this mode 12 bottles can be contained in three rows of four bottles but the sheet can be easily adapted for any number of bottles, cans or other items. The blade 10 has a base 13, side panels 14 hingedly connected thereto and the first and second top panels 15, 16 hingedly connected to the respective opposite side panels 14. The collapsible connections can be simple fold lines , partially cut bending lines or other suitable means. The base 13 has the end panels 17 which during the use are bent upwards and the upper panels 15, 16 are hingedly connected to the end panels 18, 19 respectively, which, when assembled, are folded downwards. Hinged to the side panels 14 are the end closure flaps 20 which are folded inwardly and secured with adhesive to the end panels 17, 18, 19 to completely close the ends of the carton 11. The first panel upper 15 incorporates pairs of parallel cuts 21 defining a ribbon handle 22 therebetween. The cuts 21 are located so that the ribbon handle 22 is located in the center between the two side panels 14. Also, the cuts 21 extend towards the first end panels 18 in the form of outwardly enlarged sections 23 ending in rounded portions releasing the effort 24. The frangible, small bridges 25 hold the handle with respect to the first top panel 15 until the handle 22 is used. On each side of the handle, in a central position, the side wings 26 are cut from the first top panel 15, the side flaps of which remain hingedly connected to the handle 22. The side flaps 26 are folded under the handle 22 and adhere thereto. When they are under the handle 22, the side flaps 26 do not overlap each other and make the handle more comfortable for use. The second upper panel 16 has cutouts 27 defining the partial portions of the tape handle 28. These portions 29 of the cutouts 27 in the second end panels 19 are widened and are of a length similar to the enlarged sections 23 of the cutouts in the cutouts. first end panels 18 for alignment therewith in the assembled carton 11. The portions of the handle portions 28 in the second top panel 16 are slightly separated from the remainder of the second top panel 16 by small spaces 30. The partial portions of the tape handle 28 do not extend across the entire length of the top panel but end in transverse cuts 31. The lines of weakness 32 are provided in the first and second top panels 15, 16 and in the side panels 14 and where the top panels 15, 16 overlap the lines of weakness 32 are aligned. The lines of weakness 32 allow the consumer to open the carton with ease to have access to the contents of the box. In the illustrated embodiments, the weakening lines widen outward from the end regions of the holes dislodged by the lateral fins 26 and the adjacent side walls where they are in a straight section 33 which is parallel to the folds between the side walls and the top panels. Of course other configurations are possible for the weakening lines and can also be omitted on one or both sides of the handle if desired. The assembly of the cardboard box 11 is as follows. The side flaps 26 are folded and adhered below the tape handle 22. The 12 bottles in this case are placed in the base 13 and the side walls 14 are folded up. The second top panel 16 is folded over the tops of the bottles and adhesive is applied to the shaded areas 34 as shown in Figure 2. The first top panel 15 is then folded over and adhered to the second top panel and the panels ends 18 of the first top panel 15 adhere to the end panels 19 of the second top panel, with the handle 22 aligned and adhered to the partial portions of the tape handle 28 and the different cuts 21, 27 and the lines of weakness 32 substantially in alignment. The end closure flaps 20 are folded inwardly, the base end panel 17 is bent upward and the adhered end panels 18, 19 are then folded down and secured to the end panel of the base to close the ends of the base case. cardboard that is thus completely closed. When assembled, the ribbon handle is centrally placed through the top of the cardboard box aligned with the center row of the three rows of bottles. 7Before use, the handle 22 is level with the upper part of the carton 11. However, when the handle is used, the bridges 25 are broken allowing the handle to move upwardly from the alignment with the top from the cardboard box. The partial portions of the handle 28 of the second upper panel are adhered to the ribbon handle and move inwardly slightly and are biased against the respective upper ends of the bottles of the central row. The resulting loop arrangement offers sufficient strength and comfort without the need for additional reinforcing materials or layers. It will be appreciated that the arrangement of the spaces 30 ensures that the tape handle adheres only to the partial portions of the tape handle and not to the remainder of the second top panel 16. Spaces may be omitted if accurate gluing can be ensured. It is important that the partial belt handle and the belt handle move together independently of the upper panels and the end walls. The cardboard box can certainly vary in different ways, such as the size and shape of the cardboard box, the handle, the weakening areas.
