Abstract

Un conmutador optico incluye un medio de ganancia semiconductora y entradas para una señal de control optica aplicada al medio de ganancia semiconductora. El conmutador tiene un par de brazos (31, 32) dispuestos en una configuracion MachZehnder. Un medio de ganancia semiconductora (SOA1, SOA2) está conectado en cada brazo. Un elemento de cambio de fase fijo PE también está conectado en un brazo. Se aplican señales de control a cada uno de los medios de ganancia semiconductora. Existe un retraso entre las señales de control seleccionados de manera que un pulso optico deseado experimenta un cambio de fase diferencial y así el conmutador a una salida diferente al multiplexor.
