Abstract
La invencion se relaciona a un procedimiento para separar una mezcla de minerales finamente divididos en sus constituyentes. En particular, la invencion se relaciona a un procedimiento para efectuar dicha separacion por una técnica de floculacion selectiva novedosa, en donde una pulpa acuosa dispersa que contiene la mezcla de minerales, se pre-acondiciona para floculacion selectiva con un polímero anionico por adicion tanto de un ácido graso tal como oléico y una fuente de cation polivalente tal como cloruro de calcio. El ácido graso y cation de la sal selectivamente revisten el componente de la mezcla que subsecuentemente se flocula con el polímero anionico. Un dispersante de sal poliacrilato de preferencia se emplea en el proceso. La invencion es especialmente adaptada a la separacion de impurezas titaníferas de color de la arcilla de caolín.
