Abstract
La presente invencion se refiere a un método para determinar una característica de una formacion terrestre cruzada por una perforacion que monitorea con precision el cambio de saturacion de los hidrocarburos durante la produccion de un yacimiento petrolífero. Para un paso de registro inicial, se detecta el espectro de rayos gama, inelástico en respuesta a los neutrones que irradian la formacion y los materiales de la perforacion. Se selecciona una ventana de energía con el fin de obtener la relacion carbono a oxígeno (COW) para determinar un volumen de petroleo. La relacion carbono/oxígeno también se obtiene de un espectro de energía inelástica (COR) para determinar un volumen de petroleo. La correlacion lineal entre el COW que determina el volumen de petroleo y el volumen de petroleo determinado por el COR se utiliza para obtener una línea base alfa. Para un paso de registro posterior, se detecta el espectro de rayos gama inelástico y se selecciona una ventana de energía para obtener una relacion carbono/oxígeno (COW') posterior la cual determina un volumen de petroleo subsecuente. La línea base alfa se añade al volumen de petroleo subsecuente para mejorar la precision de la medicion.
