Abstract

Un dispositivo de fusion, intercorporal incluye un cuerpo ahusado que define un interior hueco para recibir injerto oseo o un material sustituto de hueso. El cuerpo define roscas exteriores, las cuales están interrumpidas en porciones de la superficie exterior del dispositivo. El dispositivo de fusion define paredes laterales truncadas de tal manera que una vista de extremo del cuerpo toma una forma cilíndrica. Las paredes laterales se proporcionan con aberturas de vascularizacion y la pared del cuerpo del dispositivo incluye ranuras para el crecimiento hacia adentro de hueso, opuestas que se extienden a través de la porcion roscada interrumpida del cuerpo. El ángulo lordotico es restablecido no solamente por medio del ahusamiento del implante mismo, sino también como una funcion de la profundidad de insercion del implante en el espacio ya sea desde un enfoque anterior o un enfoque posterior. En el enfoque anterior, el implante se atornilla en la posicion, mientras que en el enfoque posterior, el implante funciona como una leva para extender los cuerpos vertebrales y separándolos a un ángulo lordotico apropiado.
