Abstract
La presente invención se relaciona con una nueva clase de compuestos inhibidores de la proteasa aspartilo. Los compuestos y las composiciones farmacéuticas de la presente invención son particularmente adecuados para inhibir la actividad de la proteasa aspartilo de VIH. In one of its embodiments, this invention relates to a new class of mannitol-derived HIV aspartyl protease inhibitors characterized by specific structural and physicochemical properties. This invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds. The compounds and pharmaceutical compositions of the present invention are particularly suitable for inhibiting the activity of HIV aspartyl protease. Accordingly, they can be usefully used as antiviral agents against HIV viruses, including HIV-1 and HIV-2 viruses.
