Abstract
La presente invención es un método para la determinación del sexo en aves ratites o ratidas, tales como avestruces. El método incluye los pasos de administrar un material que provoca que el sexo se determinado en un huevo fertilizado de ratite o ratida, e incubado el huevo hasta que éste eclosione. Preferentemente, el paso de administración incluye un paso de inyectar el material dentro del huevo y preferentemente antes del paso de inyección, existe el paso de perforar un orificio en el cascarón del huevo. El material que determina el sexo en las ratites o ratidas incluye estrógenos naturales o una cantidad funcionalmente equivalente de sus análogos sintéticos, para provocar el desarrollo de hembras, y los andrógenos naturales no aromatizables, o una cantidad funcionalmente equivalente de sus análogos sintéticos para provocar el desarrollo de machos. Preferentemente, el material es estradiol-17beta (para el desarrollo de hembras) o dihidrotetosterona (para el desarrollo de machos). Una solución puede por ejemplo, estar comprendida de 1.2 mg de estadiol-17beta, preferentemente disuelto en 40 microlitros de etanol 95, ó 7.5 de dihidrotestosterona preferentemente disueltos en 100 microlitros de etanol al 95, respectivamente.
