Abstract
En una modalidad de la presente invención, un motor de asignación de tasa de bits asigna tasas de bits para codificación distribuida de datos de origen. Al recibir un fragmento de los datos de origen, el motor de asignación de tasa de bits genera una curva basada en múltiples puntos, de los cuales cada uno especifica un nivel de calidad visual diferente y la tasa de bits de codificación correspondiente para codificar el fragmento. De manera subsiguiente, el motor de asignación de tasa de bits calcula una tasa de bits de codificación optimizada en función de la curva generada y un factor de optimización que se asocia con diferentes niveles de calidad visual y las tasas de bits de codificación correspondientes para múltiples fragmentos de los datos de origen. El motor de asignación de tasa de bits hace que el fragmento se codifique en la tasa de bits de codificación optimizada. Ventajosamente, el fragmento codificado resultante se optimiza con respecto al factor de optimización para múltiples fragmentos de los datos de origen.
