Abstract
Se describe un sistema y método para tratar las aguas residuales urbanas y sanitarias que utilizan únicamente dispositivos y procesos mecánicos, los cuales eliminan procesos biológicos y tanques de asentamiento. El sistema incluye un separador tipo Richter de tres salidas que separa las aguas residuales en tres corrientes de fluido de acuerdo con la gravedad específica de los sólidos dentro de las corrientes de fluido. Las corrientes de sólidos más ligeros que el agua y las corrientes de sólidos más densos que el agua se combinan y el fango resultante se deshidrata mecánicamente sin sistemas de procesos biológicos intermediarios o sedimentación. El componente de agua parcialmente clarificada puede filtrarse directamente por medio de un filtro de membrana y opcionalmente se puede desinfectar de manera óptica o química para reutilización o desecho. El sistema ventajosamente simplifica el tratamiento de las aguas residuales urbanas y sanitarias al eliminar fases de tratamiento primarias y secundarias tradicionales, y reduciendo significativamente la huella de emisiones operativas del sistema. El sistema y método pueden ajustarse a sistemas urbanos muy grandes.
