Abstract
Se describen técnicas para inicializar un parámetro Rice utilizado para definir códigos para la codificación del nivel de coeficientes; de acuerdo con las técnicas, el valor inicial del parámetro Rice es determinado para un grupo de coeficientes (CG) en un bloque de transformada de los datos de video con base en estadísticas de niveles de coeficiente que son recopilados para coeficientes previamente codificados de los datos de video; las estadísticas pueden ser estadísticas de valores absolutos de niveles de coeficiente o valores absolutos remanentes de niveles de coeficiente de coeficientes previamente codificados; un valor de las estadísticas puede ser inicializado a cero al inicio de una porción de video y actualizado con base en niveles de coeficientes codificados en cada CG de la porción; las estadísticas pueden ser actualizadas una vez por CG; en algunos casos, las estadísticas pueden ser recopiladas separadamente para cada una de una pluralidad de diferentes categorías de CGs que son definidas con base en características de bloques de transformada que incluyen los CGs.
