Abstract

Un codificador y un método en el mismo para búsqueda de forma por cuantificador de vector de pirámide, PVQ, el PVQ tomando un vector objetivo x como entrada y derivando un vector y mediante la adición de impulsos iterativamente de la unidad en un bucle de búsqueda de dimensión interna. El método comprende, antes de entrar en un siguiente bucle de búsqueda de dimensión interna para la adición de impulsos unitarios, determinar, en base a la amplitud del impulso máximo, maxampy, de un vector y actual, si se necesita más de una palabra de bits actual longitud para representar enloopy, de una manera sin pérdidas en el próximo bucle de dimensión interna. La variable enloopy está relacionada con una energía acumulada del vector y. La modalidad de este método permite que el codificador mantenga la complejidad de la búsqueda en un nivel razonable. Por ejemplo, se permite que el codificador aplicará únicamente un aumento del bucle de precisión cuando puede ser necesaria, mediante el análisis de si el "peor escenario" en el próximo ciclo interno requeriría un bucle interno con una precisión mayor que la que se usa actualmente.
