Abstract

The present invention consists in a novel prosthesis for total surface hip arthroplasty. This invention improves the morphologic, aesthetical and performance characteristics of joint components since the stability thereof is increased due to the UHMWP polyethylene dampeners, which partially absorb the stress generated in the femoracetabular component. The short stem design of the femoral component and the angular inner cut of the acetabular component, allow the stress generated by the stem to be reduced and the range of motion of the hip increased, thus reducing the muscle and/or nerves compression (pinch effect) and therefore the risk of fracture in the femoral neck; the inner angle of the acetabular cup radius allows the wear caused by the impact of the edge of the cup against the surface of the femoral heat to be removed, during the micro separation produced during the gait cycle known as stripe wear.
