Abstract

Se describe un aparato para el aislamiento de una primera zona de una segunda zona en un pozo de sondeo subterráneo. El aparato incluye un tubular externo y un tubular interno colocado dentro del tubular externo, formando una trayectoria de flujo anular entre éstos, que está en comunicación fluida con la primera zona. El tubular interno define una trayectoria de flujo central que está en comunicación fluida con la segunda zona. Un manguito que tiene al menos un sello es colocado en la trayectoria de flujo anular y es axialmente movible con relación a los tubulares internos y externos entre una posición cerrada, en donde el sello se acopla el tubular interno, y una posición abierta en donde el sello acopla al tubular externo. Un mandril es deslizablemente colocado dentro del tubular interno y es acoplado al manguito. El mandril es operable para desplazar el manguito entre la posición abierta y la posición cerrada, en respuesta a los cambios en la presión dentro de la trayectoria de flujo central.
