Abstract
Se divulgan endoscopios estéreo, donde el tren óptico de un sistema óptico está separado en un tren óptico izquierdo y derecho. La separación en un tren óptico izquierdo y derecho se logra al dividir la pupila de entrada en una mitad de pupila izquierda y derecha. Para lograr adicionalmente una disparidad estereoscópica significativa, la distancia entre la mitad de pupila izquierda y derecha se extiende. La separación de la pupila de entrada y la extensión de la mitad de pupila izquierda y derecha se logra por un bloque de prismas ubicado distalmente. El bloque de prismas consiste de un par de prismas romboidales los cuales se ubican exactamente en la pupila de entrada dentro del objetivo del endoscopio. El grupo de lentes frontales se reemplaza por un par idéntico de grupos de lentes frontales cada uno ensamblado en frente de uno de los dos prismas romboidales. Tales endoscopios estéreo con mitades de pupila extendidas habilitan construir endoscopios estéreo con diámetro muy pequeño o endoscopios estéreo para aplicaciones quirúrgicas especiales. Los endoscopios estéreo descritos también incluyen endoscopios de video donde la abertura que funciona como la pupila de entrada está separada en dos mitades y extendida para mejor efecto estereoscópico. El bloque de prismas de los endoscopios estéreo que se divulgan también se puede utilizar para separar la pupila de salida de los endoscopios estéreo que se divulgan y extender los ejes ópticos en el lado proximal para adaptarse a diferentes cámaras endoscópicas estéreo.
