Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una composición de aceite de maíz que comprende aceite de maíz sin refinar que tiene un contenido de ácidos grasos libres de menos de 5 por ciento en pes; y un contenido de humedad de 0.2 a 1 por ciento en peso, en donde el contenido de humedad comprende un contenido de iones de metales de álcali y/o iones de metales alcalinos de más de 10 ppm. Un método para proporcionar una composición de aceite de maíz que tiene un contenido de ácidos grasos libres de menos de 5 por ciento en peso y siendo formulada como una materia prima para la producción de biodiesel a partir de un residuo de fermentación del maíz, el método comprende las etapas de: a) proporcionar un residuo del maíz que comprende una capa de emulsión y una primera capa acuosa; b) ajustar el pH del residuo de fermentación del maíz por la adición de una base para proporcionar una capa de aceite de maíz y una segunda capa acuosa, en donde la primera capa acuosa no se elimina de la capa de emulsión antes de la etapa de ajuste y c) separar la capa de aceite de maíz de la segunda capa acuosa para proporcionar la composición de aceite de maíz que tiene un contenido de ácidos grasos libres de menos 5 por ciento en peso, en donde la composición de aceite de maíz se formula como una materia prima para la producción de biodiesel.
