Abstract
Se describe un dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable; el dispositivo comprende una porción óptica curva frontal del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable que comprende una superficie óptica superior de curva frontal y una superficie óptica inferior de curva frontal y una porción óptica de curva posterior del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable que comprende una superficie óptica superior de curva posterior y una superficie óptica inferior de curva posterior; se forma una cavidad por medio de la superficie óptica inferior de curva frontal de la porción óptica de curva frontal del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable y la superficie óptica superior de curva posterior de la porción de curva posterior del dispositivo oftálmico de enfoque variable; se proporciona un primer fluido con un primer índice de refracción y un segundo fluido con un segundo índice de refracción, en donde el primer índice de refracción y el segundo índice de refracción son diferentes y los dos fluidos son inmiscibles; se proporciona una película dieléctrica en contacto con al menos una porción de uno o más del primero o segundo fluidos y que se recubre un electrodo capaz de establecer un campo eléctrico; una o más regiones de receptáculos para contener de un volumen de fluido igual o aproximadamente igual al volumen del primer fluido y en donde el receptáculo está en conexión fluida con dicha cavidad formada.
