Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a mejoras en aparato para investigar formaciones terrestres con una fuente de neutrones, que comprende una fuente de neutrones con pulsos de alta energía y primero y segundo detectores de poblaciones de neutrones en sus respectivas primera y segunda ubicaciones, espaciadas por distancias diferentes desde la fuente de neutrones; y un circuito de determinación de la característica de neutrón seleccionada, acoplado a la salida del primer detector, el cual proporciona una primera señal característica de ubicación seleccionada de neutrones, tal como una representación del valor aparente del tiempo de decaimiento térmico de neutrones en la primera ubicación, caracterizadas por un circuito de combinación que tiene una entrada sensible a la señal seleccionada y otra entrada sensible a una función de la salida de población de neutrones del segundo detector, y una salida para la señal de seguridad de funcionamiento que varía como una función de un cociente de los valores aparentes de la características del neutrón seleccionada, tal como un tiempo de decaimento térmico de neutrón, en las primeras y segundas ubicaciones.
