Un acero para forjar piezas mecánicas compuesto por los siguientes elementos 0.04 % = C = 0.28 %; 1.2 % = Mn = 2.2 %; 0.3 % = Si = 1.2 %; 0.5 % = Cr = 1.5 %; 0.01 % = Ni = 1 %; 0 % = S = 0.06 %; 0 % = P = 0.02 %; 0 % = N = 0.015 %; 0 % = Al ? 0.1 %; 0.03 % = Mo = 0.5 %; 0 % = Cu = 0.5 %; 0.04 % = Nb = 0.15 %; 0.01 % = Ti = 0.1 %; 0 % = V= 0.5 %; 0.0015 % = B = 0.004%; el resto composición está compuesta de hierro e impurezas inevitables causadas por el procesamiento, la microestructura del acero tiene una microestructura que comprende en fracción de área, 55 % a 85 % de martensita, 20 % a 45 % de martensita autorevenida, 0 % a 10 % de austenita residual y, en donde las cantidades acumuladas de martensita autorevenida y martensita son al menos 90 %.
