Abstract
Se divulga un sistema y un método para permitir una estimación precisa de la ubicación de una embarcación. En una modalidad, un sistema de rescate transmite un mensaje de Servicio de Mensajes Cortos (SMS) a un dispositivo de usuario en la embarcación, y dicho mensaje SMS incluye una opción seleccionable que, cuando se elige, permite compartir la ubicación del dispositivo de usuario. Con base en la opción seleccionable que elija el usuario del dispositivo de usuario, el sistema recibe una pluralidad de coordenadas de ubicación desde el dispositivo de usuario en una pluralidad de tiempos respectivos, y cada coordenada de ubicación respectiva describe una ubicación respectiva del dispositivo de usuario en su tiempo respectivo. El sistema calcula una ubicación estimada de la embarcación con base en la pluralidad de coordenadas de ubicación y el tiempo transcurrido entre el tiempo actual y el tiempo en el que se obtuvo la última coordenada de ubicación recibida. El sistema transmite la ubicación estimada a un dispositivo de respuesta.
