Los aspectos de la presente descripción proveen técnicas mejoradas para la formación de imágenes del fondo de la retina de un sujeto; algunos aspectos se refieren a un aparato de imagenología que puede tener forma sustancialmente binocular y/o puede alojar múltiples dispositivos de imagenología configurados para proveer múltiples correspondientes modos de imagenología del fondo de la retina del sujeto; algunos aspectos se refieren a técnicas para formar la imagen del ojo de un sujeto usando luz blanca, fluorescencia, infrarrojo (IR), tomografía de coherencia óptica (OCT), y/u otras modalidades de imagenología que se pueden emplear por un único aparato de imagenología; algunos aspectos se refieren a mejoras en la luz blanca, fluorescencia, IR, OCT, y/u otras tecnologías de imagenología que se pueden emplear solas o en combinación con otras técnicas; algunos aspectos se refieren a técnicas de imagenología multimodal que permiten la determinación del estado de salud de un sujeto; los aparatos y técnicas de imagenología descritos en la presente proveen imágenes grado médico del fondo de la retina y se pueden producir o realizar a bajo costo, aumentando así el acceso a imagenología de grado médico.
