Abstract

The present disclosure is related to an automated automotive painting system and method, which is used in the automotive industry where there are in line production processes, or processes where luxury range vehicles are painted manually or automatically, or even by robots. The objective is to put an end to the different errors and defects that, until now, continue to appear with current conventional systems, which are reflected in time delays and final costs. The system is specifically applied for the base paint or color coats, for the additional coat for special finishing effects and, for the enamel or protective varnish; either with liquid or powder paint. These three layers are critical to prevent deterioration, protect paint, and provide an exceptional view of the car to attract a buyer. To achieve the above, it is done thanks to the body of the system (48) with a shape based on the same surface of the body (8) to be painted, maintaining the orientation of the electric cylinders by means of the cylinder spaces (31) that can be adjusted according to the dimensions of the bodies of the different models to be painted towards the tangential points (30) of the body surface (8). A set separation distance (5) must be maintained to have the same circular painting pattern (6) over the entire area of the body surface (8) and thus, establish layers of paint with the same thickness, starting with the front of the body until it ends at the rear just as shown in movement and painted profiles 1, 2 and 3 (9), (10) and (11). Movement should be from 0 ° to 180 ° as the cylinder rods (19) extend or contract and the linear motion base (43) moves on its linear path (44). The linear movement base (43), the cylinder rods (19) and the body of the system (48), will be working simultaneously to paint the automotive body (8). When the system finishes painting, it returns to its initial position, going from 180 ° to 0 °. The automated automotive painting system and method will reduce the time of application of each of the layers, up to a little less than a minute each, the finishing will be uniform over the entire surface of the body (8) and, finally, it will reduce excessive costs.
