Abstract

The present invention discloses a method to reduce the emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) that result from the combustion of fossil fuels in thermoelectric plants. It uses organic sludge from wastewater plants rich in ammoniacal products higher than 5% W, a platinum catalyst from 1% to 10% mixed with organic sludge. Also, it characterizes by performing the reactions at low temperatures, activating said catalyst at the same temperature as the steam generator gases, reacting with the NOx and SOx combustion gases, and decreasing the concentration of the NOx and SOx gases at the end of the process.
