Abstract
En la presente descripción se presentan sistemas y métodos que facilitan la segmentación automatizada de imágenes 3D de sujetos para distinguir entre las regiones del esqueleto normal de osificación heterotópica (OH) y tejidos blandos; en ciertas modalidades, los métodos identifican las regiones discretas diferenciables de una imagen 3D del sujeto (por ejemplo, una imagen CT o microCT) que luego pueden clasificarse manual o automáticamente o bien como OH o esqueleto normal.
