Abstract

Provided are: a seamless pipe of martensitic stainless steel for an oil well pipe, said seamless pipe having high strength and exceptional resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking; and a method for producing the seamless pipe. A seamless pipe of martensitic stainless steel for an oil well pipe, said seamless pipe having a composition that contains, in percent by mass, 0.035% or less of C, 0.5% or less of Si, 0.05-0.5% of Mn, 0.03% or less of P, 0.005% or less of S, 2.6% or less of Cu, 5.3-7.3% of Ni, 11.8-14.5% of Cr, 0.1% or less of Al, 1.8-3.0% of Mo, 0.2% or less of V, and 0.1% or less of N, with C, Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Mo, W, Nb, N, and Ti satisfying a prescribed relational formula, and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities.
