Abstract
Un método para monitorear un yacimiento petrolífero que comprende colocar al menos una barrera en un pozo separándolo en secciones aisladas superior e inferior. Se proporciona una pistola de perforación u otro dispositivo de perforación en la sección aislada inferior, junto con un mecanismo de control, un dispositivo de comunicación inalámbrica y un sensor de presión. Después de colocar la barrera, se activa la pistola de perforación a fin de crear al menos una perforación entre el pozo y el yacimiento petrolífero circundante. El pozo, o parte de él, se suspende o abandona, pero la presión aún se monitorea y se transmite una señal de datos inalámbrica, preferentemente acústica o electromagnética, desde la sección aislada inferior hasta arriba de la barrera. Los datos provenientes de la parte suspendida/abandonada del pozo pueden utilizarse para inferir las características del yacimiento petrolífero, de tal manera que pueda explotarse de manera más apropiada, especialmente a través de otro pozo.
