Abstract

The present invention discloses a process for obtaining an adsorbent product, which helps remove heavy metals from water, specifically mercury. Said process begins with the collection and cleaning of the banana peel confining in it, in closed containers to avoid contamination, thereby ensuring the elimination of moisture. Also, the process is carried out through temperature changes to generate different heat fluxes and improve dehydration time without losing properties. Once the dehydrated product is obtained, it is screened and placed inside the filter to eliminate the mercury content in water, decontaminating it to proportions of up to 0.7143 ppb.
