De acuerdo con un aspecto, se provee un método y un aparato (400) para controlar una comunicación de emergencia; se detecta (114) una señal que indica una emergencia con respecto a un usuario de un dispositivo de usuario; se realiza una búsqueda (116) para receptores válidos para una comunicación de emergencia con respecto a la emergencia, un receptor válido determinándose con base en al menos un status en línea del receptor y/o distancia espacial y/o temporal entre el usuario y el receptor válido; se selecciona (118) al menos un receptor válido encontrado en la búsqueda y se causa la transmisión (120) de la comunicación de emergencia hacia al menos un dispositivo de usuario que corresponde al por lo menos un receptor válido seleccionado.
