Abstract
The present disclosure is related to a seismic energy-dissipating device comprising a core that has two lateral portions that are coupled to a pair of connecting elements, one for each side portion. The core and connecting elements are arranged inside a metal jacket. A filling is arranged between the core, the connecting elements and the metal jacket. The dissipating device of the present invention is superior because acts in a dual manner; that is, while the core dissipates energy on a stable basis, the jacket dissipates energy but intentionally presents a failure after some charging cycles, allowing to explicitly show when the jacket or the entire dissipating device must be replaced.
