Abstract

Esta invención provee un método para producir asfalto modificado con polímero (PMA) usando asfalto base (betún) mezclado con asfalto parcialmente soplado con aire (``hinchado´´) que se modifica adicionalmente con polímeros y aditivos para lograr las propiedades deseadas para aplicaciones industriales. El asfalto parcialmente soplado o soplado se oxida a un punto de reblandecimiento objetivo para adaptarse a la aplicación. En otra modalidad de la invención, el asfalto base se mezcla con asfalto PEN duro (``Asfalto Zero-PEN´´) que se modifica adicionalmente con polímeros y aditivos para lograr las propiedades deseadas para aplicaciones industriales. Al usar el asfalto parcialmente oxidado o al mezclar el asfalto base con asfalto parcialmente oxidado o asfalto PEN duro, la cantidad de polímeros y aditivos necesarios para lograr las propiedades y el rendimiento deseados se reduce significativamente. De hecho, esta técnica se puede usar para obtener asfalto modificado con polímero que tenga una combinación muy deseable de características que de otro modo no se podrían obtener usando el asfalto base.
