Abstract

A heterostructure for a dressing material includes a substrate; and a dehydrated active ingredient deposited on the substrate in a deactivated state. The dehydrated active ingredient is configured to return to an activated state when the heterostructure contacts an activating agent such as water. In a preferred embodiment, the active ingredient is polyvinyl pyrrolidone iodine. A method for manufacturing the heterostructure is also provided, which includes dissolving an active ingredient in a solution; moisturizing a substrate by introducing the active ingredient thereon to produce an impregnated substrate; drying the impregnated substrate to produce a dehydrated substrate; and packing the dehydrated substrate. Further provided is a manufacturing system for manufacturing the heterostructure, which includes a dissolving unit configured to receive a substrate and place the substrate in contact with an active ingredient to produce an impregnated substrate; a drying unit configured to dry the impregnated substrate to produce a dehydrated substrate; and a packing unit configured to package dehydrated substrate.
