Abstract

A method for producing bacterial cellulose membranes comprising: inoculating a pre-inoculum of a microorganism from Komagataeibacter xylinus strain DSMZ 2004 in a culture medium containing reducing sugars from mango (Mangifera indica), as well as yeast extract; incubating at 30 °C for 15 days; purifying the bacterial cellulose membranes obtained by washing with distilled water at 3200 rpm then immersing them in a 0.1 M NaOH solution and maintaining them at 90 °C for 30 min; then washing the membranes with distilled water until the pH of the wash water is 7. A bacterial cellulose membrane obtained using the method of the present invention, which may be useful in biomedical applications; and a product useful in biomedical applications, which in turn comprises the bacterial cellulose membrane according to the present invention.
