Abstract
The present invention consists of an ethanolic extract from the Rumex hymenosepalus plant which exhibits high antihyperglycemic activity, which reduces blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in half the time in which the traditional glibenclamide drug performed it, according to the tests carried out. The method of obtaining the extract consists of providing the roots of the plant and depositing them in an aqueous ethanol solution, for after 15 days of filtering it. According to the tests performed, with the compound obtained it is possible to develop a future treatment for diabetes, low- cost and efficient.
