Abstract
Un sistema de monitoreo marino acústico en tiempo real y un método para detectar, rastrear, registrar, analizar, comunicar y de otra manera obtener y manipular datos indicativos de la presencia y/o la actividad marina, y el uso de tales datos para evitar o mitigar el impacto nocivo en el ambiente marino. El sistema incluye paquetes de instrumentación submarinos (SPs) que incluyen sensores que registran señales acústicas y otros datos del sensor que permiten las comunicaciones de datos pasados y/o en tiempo real in situ y el control de los paquetes de instrumentación individuales y la configuración del sistema. Cada SP puede tener módulos o componentes inalámbricos, acústicos y/u ópticos para permitir la comunicación entre los SPs y/u otros puntos de recolección tales como embarcaciones de superficie, ROVs, transceptores submarinos, o AUVs. Los SPs pueden incluir además sensores sísmicos adicionales de componente único o múltiple u otros funcionalizados para recolectar los datos que pueden utilizarse en combinación con los datos acústicos adquiridos (que pueden relacionarse con las condiciones ambientales como se describe más adelante así como con datos acústicos de mamíferos marinos) para ayudar en la identificación, localización y/o cambios en las características y/o población(es) de mamíferos en el ambiente detectado u otros estímulos tales como, pero sin limitarse a, radiación, movimiento y cualquier otro estímulo detectable de interés real o potencial.
