Abstract
The current electric networks face the big challenge of integrating themselves in their whole process of generation, transmission, distribution and consumption, this being known as intelligent electric networks (IEN). The big challenge will be the integration of the user for having an efficient and responsible consumption. The inventive solution provided by the intelligent measurement unit, hardware and control software (UMIP+HSC by its acronym in Spanish) is intended to collect and store different variables of data directly exploited from the electric power meter of the AMI type, all this in a remote manner through wireless communication networks of the mesh type, without having personnel in site for performing the measurements in a local manner or through manual devices such as hand terminals. One advantage of using UMIP+SHC is that different information layers can be defined, an example of the control signals of the first layer is the exchange of information of the measurements of electric power with smart devices in the network and near substations where the distribution automation (AD) is performed, allowing the network to be automatically reconfigured for providing continuous alternatives in the service in case of a failure in the power suppliers, also allowing tap's to be lifted and descended in the power transformers or reactants to be injected when the voltage measured in the users requires it. The protocol compatibility between said devices and the exchange of these signals will be lower than 4 milli-seconds (4ms), like the process bus in substations. Another information layer will be used to flow alarms for detecting unlawful acts, such as frauds, meter inversion, using accelerometers, magnetometers, etc., which are connected to the micro bus (2).
