Abstract

Una modalidad de la invención se dirige a un termoplástico biorenovable, poli (ácido dihidroferúlico) (PHFA), que es una imitador de polietilentereftalato (PET) efectiva. En otra modalidad de la invención, un copolímero termoplástico biorenovable, poli (ácido dihidroferúlico-co-ácido ferúlico) es una imitador de poliestireno efectiva. El PHFA y el copolímero se pueden preparar por la homocondensación de ácido acetildihidroferúlico o la copolimerización de ácido acetildihidroferúlico con ácido acetilferúlico, los cuales son monómeros que se pueden sintetizar de materiales de partida aislados de lignina, salvado de arroz, u otras fuentes biorenovables.
