Abstract

The invention relates to a mixture for producing a biodegradable plastic material, based on mucilaginous juice of vegetable origin, natural protein, wax of vegetable origin, and a wetting agent. A biodegradable plastic material, produced using said mixture, can be used in industry in general, such as in the packaging and wrapping, medical, farming industries, etc. A process for producing a biodegradable plastic material, comprising the following steps: dissolving a natural protein in mucilaginous juice of vegetable origin; heating the mixture until it homogenises; adding a wetting agent and a previously melted vegetable wax; heating and homogenising the mixture; pouring the liquid mixture into a mould; and leaving the mixture to dry in the mould, in ambient conditions, until it solidifies and comes loose from the mould.
