The present disclosure is related to a coating composition for porous surfaces and also to a method for the coating application. The invention relates to a color coating composition based on Portland cement which is applied to different substrates such as concrete, tiles, brick tiles and, in general, to porous surfaces. The composition of the present invention is a dry powder, and when is diluted with water is applied with a brush, roll, spray or any other similar means. The thickness of the layer is from 1 to 3 mm depending on the desired viscosity. The composition optionally comprises a pozzolanic aggregate, an acrylic polymer, colorants and/or a dispersant.
