Abstract

Messaging content that is associated with a user is selected for sharing and transferring with one or more other recipients. A user may select all/portion of the messaging content to transfer. For example, a user may select a single folder from their mailbox, their entire mailbox, one or more conversation threads, one or more subjects, and the like. The selection may be made manually/automatically. For example, a user may use a graphical user interface to select messaging content to share and/or messaging content may be automatically selected based on a rule and/or some other condition. After selection, the selected messaging content is transferred to the other recipient(s) with which the user has selected for sharing/transferring. The recipient(s) of the selected messaging content may accept/decline the transfer of messaging content. Upon accepting the invitation, the messaging content is transferred and stored in the recipient's mailbox.

Description

C0MPARTIC10N AND TRANSFER OF MESSAGE CONTENT AMONG USERS BACKGROUND A user can have important content (for example, electronic messages) that is attached to the user's mailbox. Although a user can share this content using public / shared folders, content sharing can be difficult. For example, a user may not always be thorough about storing information in the shared location. Many times, a user only stores the content in their mailbox without sharing the content.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This Brief Description is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form which is also described below in the detailed description. This Brief Description is not intended to identify key characteristics or essential characteristics of the subject matter claimed, nor is it intended to be used as an aid in determining the scope of the subject matter claimed.
The messaging content that is associated with a user is selected to share and transfer with one or more other recipients. A user can select all / portion of the content messaging for transfer. For example, a user may select an individual folder from his mailbox, his entire mailbox, one or more conversation strings, one or more issues, and the like. The selection can be done manually / automatically. For example, a user may use a graphical user interface to select messaging content to share and / or messaging content to automatically select based on a rule and / or some other condition. After selection, the selected messaging content is transferred to the other recipient (s) with which the user has selected to share / transfer. The selected messaging content receiver (s) can accept / reject the messaging content transfer. Upon accepting the invitation, the messaging content is transferred and stored in the recipient's mailbox. The messaging content can / can not be updated automatically in response to changes to the messaging content.

According to several embodiments, the computer 100 can operate in a networked environment using logical connections to remote computers through a network 18, such as the Internet. The computer 100 can be connected to the network 18 through a network interface unit 20 connected to the common conductor 12. The network connection can be wireless and / or cable. The network interface unit 20 can also be used to connect to other types of networks and remote computer systems. The computer 100 may also include an input / output controller 22 for receiving and processing the input from a number of other devices, such as a touch input device. The touch input device can use any technology that allows single / multiple touch inputs (contact / non-contact) to be recognized. For example, technologies may include, but are not limited to: heat, finger pressure, high capture speed cameras, infrared light, optical capture, tuned electromagnetic induction, ultrasonic receivers, transducer microphones, laser rangefinders, shadow capture , and similar. According to one embodiment, the touch input device may be configured to detect crankshades (i.e., within some distance of the touch input device but which does not physically touch the touch input device). The touch input device may also act as a display 28. The input / output controller 22 may also provide output to one or more display screens, a printer, or other type of output device.
A camera and / or some other detection device may be operative to register one or more users and capture movements and / or gestures made by users of a computing device. The detection device may further be operable to capture spoken words, such as by a microphone and / or capture other inputs from a user such as a keyboard and / or mouse (not shown). The detection device may comprise any motion detection device capable of detecting the movement of a user. For example, a camera may comprise a MICROSOFT KINECT® motion capture device comprising a plurality of cameras and a plurality of microphones.
The embodiments of the invention can be practiced through a system on a chip (SOC) where each or many of the components / methods illustrated in the Figures can be integrated on an individual integrated circuit. Such a SOC device may include one or more processing units, graphics units, communication units, system virtualization units and various application functionalities all that are integrated (or "burned") onto the chip substrate as an individual integrated circuit. When operating through a SOC, all / some of the functionality, described here, can be integrated with other components of the computer 100 into the individual integrated circuit (chip).
As briefly mentioned in the above, a number of program modules and data files may be stored in the mass storage device 14 and RAM 9 of the computer 100, including an operating system 16 suitable for controlling the operation of a computer in network, such as the WINDOWS 7®, WINDOWS SERVER® operating systems from MICROSOFT CORPORATION of Redmond, Washington.
Mass storage device 14 and RAM 9 may also store one or more program modules. In particular, the mass storage device 14 and RAM 9 can store one or more applications, such as sharing manager 26, messaging application (s) 24 (eg, a messaging application such as MICROSOFT OUTLOOK, an application of Instant Messaging (iM), an SMS message, and the like), and may store one or more web browsers 25. The web browser 25 is operative to request, receive, present, and provide interactivity with electronic content, such as web pages, electronic messages, videos, documents, and the like. According to one modality, the web browser comprises the I NTERNET EXPLORER web browser application program from MICROSOFT CORPORATION.
The sharing manager 26 can be located at a client device and / or on a server device (for example, within the service 19). The sharing manager 26 may be configured as an application / procedure and / or as part of a cloud-based multiple tenant service that provides resources (eg, services, data ...) to different tenants (eg MICROSOFT OFFICE 365).
Generally, the sharing manager 26 is configured to perform operations that relate to sharing and transferring messaging content (e.g., electronic messages and associated content). The messaging content that is associated with a user is selected to share and transfer with one or more other recipients. A user can select all / portion of the messaging content for transfer. For example, a user can select a single folder from his mailbox, his entire mailbox, one or more conversation strings, one or more issues, and similar. The selection can be done manually / automatically. For example, a user may use a graphical user interface to select messaging content to share and / or messaging content may be automatically selected based on a rule and / or some other condition. After selection, the selected messaging content is transferred to the other recipient (s) with which the user has selected share / transfer. Before transferring the selected messaging content to the receiver (s), the selected messaging content can be copied to a shared location so that the messaging content remains more easily available to share. The recipient (s) of the selected messaging content can accept / reject the transfer of messaging content. Upon accepting the invitation, the messaging content is transferred and stored in the recipient's mailbox. The messaging content can / can not be updated automatically in response to changes to the messaging content. Additional details regarding the operation of the sharing manager 26 will be provided below.
Figure 2 shows an illustrative system for sharing messaging content from one user to one or more receivers. As illustrated, the system 200 includes a service 210, sharing manager 240, storage 245, touch screen / display input device 250 (e.g., whiteboard) and mobile device 230, such as a smartphone.
As illustrated, service 210 is a cloud-based and / or enterprise-based service that can be configured to provide electronic messaging services (e.g., MICROSOFT OFFICE 365 or some other cloud-based / online service that provides messaging services). ). The functionality of one or more of the services / applications provided by the service 210 can also be configured as a client-based application. For example, a client device may include an application that performs operations that refer to share / send / receive / interact with messaging content, such as emails. The messaging application / service may also provide messaging services that refer to other types of messages (for example, IM messages, SMS, MMS, and the like). Although the system 200 displays a messaging service, other services / applications can be configured to use the deleted property information to interact with deleted items.
As illustrated, service 210 is a multi-tenant service that provides resources 215 and services to any number of tenants (e.g., I-renters 1-N). According to one embodiment, the multiple tenants service 210 is a cloud-based service that provides resources / services 215 to tenants subscribed to the service and maintains data for each tenant separately and protected from other tenant data.
System 200 comprises a touch screen / display input device 250 (e.g., a slate / tablet device type) and mobile device 230 that detects when a touch input has been received (e.g., a finger that touches or almost touches) the touchscreen). Any type of touch screen that detects the tactile input of a user can be used. For example, the touch screen may include one or more layers of capacitive material that detects touch input. Other sensors may be used in addition to or instead of the capacitive material. For example, infrared (IR) sensors can be used. According to one modality, the touch screen is configured to detect objects that are in contact with or on a surface that can be touched. Although the term "envelope" is used in this description, it should be understood that the orientation of the touch panel system is irrelevant. The term "envelope" is intended to be applicable to all of these orientations. The touch screen can also be configured to determine locations from which touch input is received (for example, a starting point, intermediate points, and an endpoint). The actual contact between the touchable surface and the object can be detected by any suitable means, including, for example, a vibration sensor or microphone coupled to the touch panel. A non-exhaustive list of examples for contact detection sensors includes pressure-based mechanisms, micro-machined accelerometers, piezoelectric devices, capacitive sensors, resistive sensors, inductive sensors, laser vibrometers, and LED vibrometers.
As illustrated, the touch screen / display input device 250 and the mobile device 230 display an illustrative display 252/232 of messaging content that can be selected for sharing. The messaging content may be stored in a device (eg, mobile device 230, slate 250 and / or in some other location (e.g., network storage 245.) Mobile device 230 displays presentation 232 illustrating user's folders that include messaging content displayed in a list view, messaging content can be presented by a mail program electronic, a text messaging program, an instant messaging program, a messaging service, and the like. The content of messaging can be presented in a list, arranged as chains, and / or arranged in different ways. The messaging content can be presented by a client-based application and / or by a server based on the application (eg company, based on cloud).
The sharing manager 240 is configured to perform operations that relate to sharing and transferring selected messaging content with one or more receivers. A user can select all / portion of the messaging content to share and transfer with one or more receivers. For example, it is selected to share a folder 231 illustrated on the mobile device 230. The slate device 250 shows the selection of a message string to be shared. In response to selecting the chain to restore, the Ul 261 that allows a user to see a description of the chain and an option to share "S" to share the chain can be presented.
After the selection, the manage to share 240 optionally sends an invitation to the selected receiver (s) to help determine which recipient (s) will have the selected messaging content transferred to them. The sharing manager 240 can copy the messaging content to a shared location, such as 245 storage, so that the messaging content is readily available for transfer to selected recipients. Upon accepting the invitation, the messaging content is transferred and stored in the recipient's mailbox. In messaging content it can / can not be updated automatically in response to changes to the messaging content.
Figure 3 shows a presentation illustrating a messaging window that shows a user that interacts with electronic messages and selects messaging content to share. As illustrated, the window 300 includes a folder list 305, a message list 310, and a preview area 315. More or fewer areas can be included within the window 300. The folder list can be used to display different folders which can be selected to fill the message list (for example, select a folder of deleted items to show deleted items). A preview area can be used to display the message content that is associated with a message / string of selected messages. A graphic indicator, such as an icon and / or color / highlight, may be displayed to indicate a selected message.
The window 300 may be a window that is associated with a desktop application, a mobile application and / or a web-based application (for example, presented by a browser). For example, a web browser can access an email service, an email application on a computing device can be configured to compose / send / receive emails from one or more of different services, and the like.
The message list 310 shows individual messages and message chains. Messages in the message chain can be expanded by selecting the icon to expand / collapse before the message string. In the current example, a user has selected the string 332 to share using the menu 330. One or more user interfaces of one or more types can be used to interact with and to select messaging content to share. For example, the Ul 322 can provide different options, the context menu 330 can be used, the interface 324 can be used, a menu within a menu bar, a menu item selected from a band user interface, a graphic menu , and similar. In the current example, the menu 322, a context menu 330 and a menu 324 are illustrated to share messaging content. Generally, the Ul are configured so that a user can easily interact with and select messaging content to share. For example, a user can simply select an option within an Ul to share messaging content. There may be zero or more options. For example, the option may be an individual sharing option that when selected, consults the user by a recipient with whom to share the content. The sharing Ul may also include other options such as is shown in the context menu 330. As illustrated, the options show a selection for specifying receivers, a time range that is used to specify a duration for the sharing, and other options. The U I 322 shows an option to share and a receiver option. In response to a user selecting the share option, the selected messaging content is shared. According to one embodiment, the mixed alpha Ul is presented so that a portion of content under the presentation of the Ul remains visible.
Figures 4-5 show illustrative procedures for sharing and transferring message content. When the discussion is read in the routines presented here, it should be appreciated that the logical operations of various modalities are implemented (1) as a sequence of computer-implemented acts or program modules that are executed in a computer system and / or ( 2) as machine logic circuits interconnected to a circuit module within the computer system. The implementation is a matter of choice dependent on the performance requirements of the computer system that implement the invention. Accordingly, the logical operations illustrated and forming the modalities described herein are variously indicated as operations, structural devices, acts or modules. These operations, structural devices, data and modules can be implemented in software, firmware, special purpose digital logic, and any combination thereof. Although operations are shown in a particular order, the order of operations can change and be performed in other orders.
Figure 4 shows a procedure for selecting message content and receiver (s) to share and transfer message content.
After a start operation, the procedure 400 flows to operation 410, where a graphical user interface is presented to interact with and share messaging content that includes electronic messages. The messaging content can be one or more of: emails, SMS, MMS, and the like. The graphical user interface includes different user interface elements to interact with and share the messaging message. For example, user interface messages can be used to select and share messaging content; classifies messaging content (for example, from oldest to newest, newest to oldest, within a range, create / turn on rules for shared / non-shared messaging content, filter messaging content and the like). The content of messaging (for example, electronic messages) can be presented in folders, arranged in a list, arranged as chains, and / or arranged in different forms. Messages can be presented by a client-based application and / or by a server-based application (for example, company, cloud-based).
By flowing to operation 420, a request is received that selects messaging content to be shared with one or more receivers. The request can be received through the GUI and / or through some other method. For example, the request can be automatically generated in response to a power on rule. The messaging content may include all / portion of a user's messaging content. For example, a user can select an individual folder from his mailbox, the entire mailbox, one or more conversation strings, one or more topics, a calendar, a portion of a calendar, a calendar between certain dates, tasks, and the like. The selected messaging content can be shared once, for a period of time, and / or until the sharing relationship ends. For example, when the content is shared once, the existing messaging content that was selected is shared within the selected recipient (s). When the content is shared for a period of time, the existing messaging content that is selected is shared with the selected recipient (s) and updates to the selected messaging content that is shared until the expiration of the time period.
When switching to operation 430, a selection of one or more receivers is received to share the selected messaging content. The receiver (s) can be identified using different methods. For example, a contact book can be accessed, an email address can be used to identify a receiver, some other identifier can be used (for example, IM address, text address, ...), a project identifier, and the like can be used.
As the operation 440 moves, an invitation can be sent to the selected receiver (s). The invitation is used when determining if a a receiver would like or not have the selected messaging content transferred to it. A receiver can either accept / reject the invitation. According to one modality, the invitation expires after a predetermined period of time (for example, one day, two days, one week, two weeks, ...).
When switching to operation 450, the selected message content is optionally copied to a shared location. Copying the selected messaging content to a shared location can help transfer the selected messaging content. For example, messaging content may not be available to the user when they are not connected to a network. When sharing involves sharing future content, the shared location can be updated with content as it changes.
When flowing to operation 460, the selected messaging content is transferred to the selected receiver (s). According to one modality, the messaging (copy) content is transferred from the shared location to the receiver in response to the user accepting the invitation.
The procedure then moves to a final operation and returns for processing of other actions.
Figure 5 shows a procedure to accept / reject an invitation to share message content.
After a start operation, procedure 500 flows to operation 510, where an invitation is received to receive the messaging content shared by a user.
As the decision operation 520 moves, a determination is made as to whether the invitation is accepted / rejected I. When the invitation is rejected, the procedure flows in operation 530. When the invitation is accepted, the procedure flows to operation 540.
In operation 530, a message is sent to the user indicating that the user has declined the invitation to share the messaging content.
In operation 540, a message is sent to the user indicating that the user has accepted the invitation to share the messaging content.
By flowing to operation 550, the receiver can select a location to store the message content. According to one modality, the receiver selects a location within its mailbox in which to store the content. For example, the recipient can place the messaging content inside his inbox, inside a new folder, some other folder and / or some other location.
When switching to operation 560 with the messaging content it is stored as specified by the receiver.
The procedure then moves to a final operation and returns for processing of other actions.
Figure 6 illustrates a system architecture used to share messaging content, as described herein. He content used and presented by the application (for example, application 1020) and the sharing manager 26 can be stored in different locations. For example, application 1020 may use / store data using directory services 1022, web portals 1024, mailbox services 1026, instant messaging stores 1028, and social networking sites 1030. Application 1020 may use any of these types of systems or Similar. A 1032 server can be used to access sources and to repair and present electronic messages. For example, server 1032 can access and share electronic messages for application 1020 to present to a client (for example, a browser or some other window) and be restored from a client. As an example, the server 1032 can be a web server configured to provide messaging services (e.g., e-mail, text messages, IM messages, and the like) to one or more users. The server 1032 can use the web to interact with clients through a network 1008. In server 1032 it can also comprise an application program (e.g., a messaging application). Examples of clients that may interact with the server 1032 include a computing device 1002, which may include any general-purpose personal computer such as a tablet computing device 1004 and / or mobile computing device 1006 which may include smart phones. Any of these devices can obtain content from storage 1016.
Figures 7-13 show illustrative presentations that illustrate the sharing and transfer of messaging content. The examples shown here are for illustration purposes and are not intended to be limiting.
