Abstract

Un elemento de cierre sirve para obturar orificios los cuales se sujetan a presión interna, preferentemente orificios en máquinas o bloques de válvulas o tanques. El elemento de cierre tiene un cuerpo principal con forma de manguito que puede insertarse dentro del orificio y la circunferencia exterior de esta, en el estado instalado, sostiene de forma sellada contra la superficie interna del orificio. Se provee el cuerpo principal y un cuerpo de expansión que se conecta al cuerpo principal de una región de transición con el doblez. El elemento de cierre primero se inserta en el orificio y se presiona posteriormente dentro del último por la aplicación de presión al cuerpo de expansión. Mientras el elemento de cierre se presiona dentro del orificio, el cuerpo de expansión se empuja dentro del cuerpo principal por deformación, a fin de presionar el cuerpo principal en la dirección radial contra la superficie interior del orificio. De esta forma, el elemento de cierre puede soportar aun con presiones internas relativamente altas y puede producirse en una forma simple.
