Abstract

In the conventional systems for handling solid urban residues, where the selective separation of reusable materials is carried out, the residues are received generally in closed bags (5), so that they have to be torn up and opened in a manual form, this action exposing the physical integrity of the operators, since they suffer cuttings and pricks in the hands caused by the materials contained in the bags (5), despite being protected with gloves. The present invention describes an electromechanical device for shredding bags containing different solid residues. The bags are fed to the shredder by means of a conveyor belt (2), the bags falling by gravity to a loading ramp (9) and then to the curved knives (11), in this very moment the knives rotor (10) starts to shred the bags (5), leaving the residues exposed over the conveyor (4) for being subsequently selected. In case some residues of the bag (5) remain adhered to the knives rotor (10), a set of straight knives (12) will clean the kn ives rotor (10).
