Abstract
Se describe un método para los diagnósticos de un sistema de protección de alta integridad (HIPS, por sus siglas en inglés) para la protección de una tubería en la dirección descendente de una boca de pozo, que incluye: supervisar el inicio de una prueba automática de accionamiento o de apagado manual de seguridad o de cierre completo; determinar el tiempo de seguridad de proceso (PST, por sus siglas en inglés) que transcurre entre el tiempo en el cual la presión ascendente alcanza el punto de referencia de accionamiento y el tiempo en el cual la presión descendente alcanza la presión de tubería máxima permitida (MAPP, por sus siglas en inglés) de la tubería descendente; y verificar que las válvulas de aislamiento críticas de seguridad estén accionadas en la posición completamente cerrada dentro de medio PST y que la presión descendente no exceda la MAPP. Si la verificación es acertada, no se requiere ninguna acción, mientras si la verificación muestra que cualquiera de esos parámetros no están cumplidos, entonces el HIPS indica una alarma a los operadores, y en el caso de una prueba de apagado manual o de cierre completo, reajusta el punto de referencia de accionamiento a un nivel inferior.
