Abstract

The invention relates to a method for hydrotreating a heavy hydrocarbon fraction using a system of permutable fixed-bed guard areas, each area containing at least two catalyst beds, wherein, in the system, each time the catalyst bed, which is initially placed in contact with the feedstock, is deactivated and/or sealed off during the steps in which the feedstock passes sequentially through all of the guard areas, the point of feeding in the feedstock is moved downstream. The present invention also relates to a plant for carrying out the method.
